Beginners proudly present the first-ever live album from Detroit legends Thoughts of Ionesco. Recorded live at The Magic Stick, Detroit, on 6/24/17. Featuring the classic “A Skin Historic” lineup of Sean Madigan-Hoen, Nathan Miller, and Derek Grant, and accompanied on second guitar by Jeff Tuttle (Dillinger Escape Plan, Heads Will Roll). Limited to 250 copies on 180-gram, eco-lavender mix vinyl. Japan distro available through Motorpool Records Distro/Rufen Publishings.

“It boggles the mind to consider how progressive THOUGHTS OF IONESCO were during their initial late ‘90s run, especially given their relative youth at the time. The world wasn’t ready for them back then, and even now, they are far ahead of the curve compared to the vast majority of their peers. It is by no means clear that they plan to do much beyond this retrospective release, but we can certainly hope for more. There is a niche only they seem able to completely fill, and if they choose not to continue, they will certainly be missed.” —BURNING AMBULANCE

Beginners, in association with Elkion Records, proudly present Few and Far Between’s “3” on vinyl for the very first time. 333 copies on 180-gram eco-citrus color vinyl, remastered specifically for vinyl by Warren Defever at Third Man Mastering in Detroit. First available at the band’s show on Saturday 7/20/24 at Small’s in Hamtramck, with remaining copies being made available for sale at beginnerstapes.com (link in bio) on Sunday 7/21/24. Japan distro via Motorpool Records Distro/Rufen Publishings available late July.

Just under 25 years ago, Few and Far Between exploded onto the Detroit scene fully formed. Two songs, circulated via third-generation cassette dubs, primed the pump for the band to enjoy a large, dedicated following from their first show. Three years later they released this, their magnum opus, on CD via Michigan powerhouse Elkion Records. 12 tracks of powerful, intense, and deeply personal indie rock. The music is at once timeless, and in memory of the way we had it.

To celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of their recording on 9/9/99, Beginners presents a limited edition hand-painted, numbered, one-sided 12" lathe cut of The Silence of Fall's "Complete Demonstration Recordings". Limited to 15 clear and 15 black, with 25 total copies being made available to purchase. Each 12" and cover is completely unique snd will be shipped at random!

If sold out here, try Bandcamp.

A note on lathe cut vinyl
These are cut by hand. Each record is made in real-time, as the audio file plays and the lathe cuts grooves into the vinyl. This is not an exact science. There will be imperfections and surface noise present. If you play one of these on a toy record player without a tonearm counterweight (like a Crosley suitcase) you will experience skips and jumps. This does not mean that there is a defect in the lathe. Please consider before purchasing lathe-cut records :)

  5. Kegler's

Recorded in two sessions, one on 9/9/99 and one later that fall, the first three tracks were featured on a demo cassette sold at the band's few shows played in 1999. Kegler's appeared on the Reveal The Character compilation CD on Elkion Records. Untitled was not released until October 2020 when Larry Records released their complete demo recordings.
